Exercise class assessment
There will be two tests during the semester. Each test consists of 4 problems worth up to 5 points each: a maximum of 20 points per test and 40 points across both tests.
Attendance at exercise classes is mandatory. A maximum of 2 unexcused absences is allowed.
To pass the exercise class, students must earn at least 10 points on each test (50% of the points available on that test). Neither a higher score on the other test nor participation points can replace this minimum.
Students earn 1 participation point each time they solve a problem at the board or complete another additional task set by the instructor (such as homework). There is no limit to the number of participation points students may earn during the semester.
The final score is the sum of both test scores and all awarded participation points. Once both tests have been passed, the grade is determined using the following table. Grade thresholds are spaced linearly: from 20 points for a grade of 3.0 to 40 points for a grade of 5.0, in 5-point steps for successive grades.
| Total points | Exercise class grade |
|---|---|
| 0–19 | 2.0 |
| 20–24 | 3.0 |
| 25–29 | 3.5 |
| 30–34 | 4.0 |
| 35–39 | 4.5 |
| 40 or more | 5.0 |
Students can retake a failed test.
Retakes
Students will be able to retake tests in oral or written form. The exact format and date of the retake will be decided later.
Test dates
- Test 1 date: 3 December 2026
- Test 2 date: 21 January 2027
Both test dates will be agreed with students during the first class.
